Miles Halter is tired of his boring and lonely life at home in Florida, so he decides to go a boarding school in Alabama, hoping that a new beginning might give him a new impetus. At the boarding school he makes friends with a group of youngsters - including the beautiful and intelligent yet unhappy Alaska Young - who open a whole new world for him.
Looking for Alaska is a novel about adolescents in their final years at school who are discovering friendship, love and desire, and learning how trust, responsibility, grief and loss are an integral part of human experience.

From Alina:
In these pages Alaska, Pugde, the Colonel, Lara and Takumi planned a pre-prank to the Weekday Warriors, the boys who cast Pudge into the lake. Alaska and Pudge figured out that the Weekday Warriors love their hair and so they want to colour their hair blue. Takumi and Pudge lit firechrackers to prescind the Eagle from Alaska and the Colonel while they put dye in the conditioner and their gel. This prank was succesful but directly after they played it something interesting happend. The actions overturning: The night they played the prank they slept outside all together and Lara and Pugde came pretty close to each other, they kissing and slept side by side in Laras sleeping bag. And now Pugde had a girlfriend. I was pleased about that but if I were in Miles position I can't talk much with Lara because of her accent, e.g. ''I knew Engleesh and my parents deedn't. I know she is from Romania but sometimes it's hard to understand what she means. Anyway the story went on and that night they played a game called ''Best Day/Worst Day''. While this game we found out that Alaska had made a horrible experinece when she was only six years old. She found her mother laying on the floor, jerking and then she hold her hand, crying and screaming and don't think about calling the emergency. And so her mother died. After I read this I was totally shocked what Alaska was gone through in her childhood, furthermore that her dad thinks she is guilty for his wifes death.
But in these pages were also funny moments basically at the expense of Lara. She wanted to give Miles a blowjob but she didn't know how to do that. This fact was very funny because even Miles had no idea. Although I'm very sure that he knows how that worked. Well, however the top of the situation was when Lara wanted to bite Pudge. That was so amusing on the one hand but on the other hand I felt very ashamed of both. Needless to say that this was not enough, so suddenly it goes on with the kissing between Alaska and Pudge. I don't know how this could happened so fast but in these pages it's an overturning of the actions.

I agree with Alina in most points. I liked the pre-prank. This was really fun to read and I got the feeling that Takumi likes words where you can put 'fucking' in e.g. 'indefuckingstructible'. I also really found funny the blow job part. When I read this I couldn't stop laughing! This was incredible funny.
What I didn't like was the "Best Day/Worst Day" game. I got the impression that Alaska just wanted to say:“ Look what I suffered through. I'm much more interesting and mysterious than you'll ever be." Maybe she just wanted to tell her friends about what happened to her, so she doesn't have to bear this burden alone anymore but if this is reality, why did she do that then? Why not earlier or later?
The accent of Lara if find pretty annoying but on the other hand I like the effect.
I didn't like that Alaska made out with Miles. I can't understand why she does that and I also don't understand why Miles agrees to do that especially because they're doing it in front of an audience (the Colonel).
All in all I didn't like the book until now and I'm not sure if I want to know what's happening on the next pages.
